Pet Peeves (number #1)

When your driving today, there is so much more distraction for the driver than ever before.  Today we have Cell phones (the biggest culprit), the radio, MP3 players, drinks and food, friends and family talking and fighting, but we also have my favorite, the GPS.  You have got to love the GPS, especially when it gives you bogus information.  How much more distracted can one person get then yelling at the GPS for getting you lost.  I don’t know about all GPS’s but the one I have will have me make 3 extra turns to get to the same place if I went straight.  I have tried all different setting: The fastest route, the quickest route (If you can tell me the difference between those two I would love to hear it), and the route without tolls.  They all lead me on out of the way trips.  I even had the GPS send me in a loop.  It would go 2 blocks and then say recalculating. I follow the new route two blocks and again it started recalculating.  After 3 times of this I was back where it first said recalculating.  At that point I was on my own in some upstate, unknown small back roads, lost.  DISTRACTION!  Yes there are many distractions in the car and we all need to limit them. Remember, driving is one of the most dangerous things we all do on a daily basis.  Why would you want to be distracted?  Wait, recalculating……
